Coca-Cola: arbitrator has ruled in dispute with Monster
(CercleFinance.com) - An arbitration tribunal in the United States has ruled in favour of Coca-Cola as part of a dispute that started last year with energy drink maker Monster Beverage.
Under the ruling, Coca-Cola can continue to sell and distribute Coca-Cola Energy products, including in markets where the brand has already been launched.
Coca-Cola is also free to launch the product in additional markets globally, as allowed under the terms of a contract between the companies.
The arbitrators ruled that Coca-Cola Energy products fall within an exception to a non-compete clause relating to beverages marketed or positioned under the Coca-Cola brand.
The companies said they respect the arbitrators' decision and say that the dispute has now been resolved "amicably."
Coca-Cola shares were trading 0.7% higher on Monday morning, while the Monster Beverage was up 0.2%.
