Caterpillar: buys Scottish maker of oil and gas pumps

(CercleFinance.com) - Caterpillar, the world's largest maker of earth-moving equipment, on Monday said it will acquire the oil and gas unit of Scottish engineering firm Weir.


Caterpillar said the business would reinforce its engines and transmissions unit. The purchase price of 405 million dollars is to be paid in cash, it added.

The deal includes more than 40 manufacturing and services locations and approximately 2,000 employees.

Weirs's pumps, flow iron, consumable parts, wellhead and pressure control products are used in the upstream oil and gas industry in North America and internationally.
