Broadcom: agrees to acquire VMware

(CercleFinance.com) - Broadcom has announced that it has agreed to acquire VMware in a cash and stock transaction that values VMware at approximately 61 billion dollars, based on Broadcom's closing share price on 25 May.


After the transaction closes, Broadcom Software will change its name to VMware, integrating Broadcom's existing infrastructure and security software solutions as part of an expanded VMware portfolio.

The new VMware, as part of Broadcom, will be able to offer enterprise customers greater choice and flexibility to address the most complex IT infrastructure challenges, it said.

The transaction is expected to add approximately 8.5 billion dollars in pro-forma EBITDA within three years of closing. Subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions, it is expected to close in Broadcom's 2022-23 fiscal year.
