Abbott: rapid Covid-19 test approved

(CercleFinance.com) - Abbott has announced that the US FDA has granted emergency use authorization for its BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card rapid test, for the detection of Covid-19 infection - the test will be sold at a price of five dollars.


The group says that this test, which is the same size as a credit card, provides results in just 15 minutes, “using proven lateral flow technology with demonstrated sensitivity of 97.1% and specificity of 98.5% in clinical study”.

The US healthcare group adds that it plans to deliver tens of millions of tests in September, with production rampted up to 50 million tests per month in early October.
