SAS: passenger traffic up over 50% in August

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday SAS reported a 52% increase in passenger traffic in August, helped by increased demand due to the summer period.


The Scandinavian airline said it carried nearly 1.1 million people last month, a figure that on a sequential basis was almost the same as in July.

Load factor, one of the industry's preferred measures of profitability, improved by 12.9 points to 60.9% in August.

While travel restrictions remain in place, the airline says that it is doing everything it can to make it easier for customers to travel, with new routes set to open, depending on the lifting of restrictions and renewed demand.

Despite this, there are still major uncertainties about the development of the pandemic, which is weighing on the entire air transport sector.

At around noon, SAS shares were up 1.3%, outperforming the Stockholm market by about 2%.
