Ericsson: accelerating the future of driver assistance

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson, Deutsche Telekom, BMW, Valeo and Qualcomm are accelerating the future of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Their collaboration has resulted in a groundbreaking proof of concept: the world's first 5G autonomous network slicing (AS) with controlled network characteristics for quality of service (QoS).

Ensuring reliable, low-latency data performance is critical to the future growth of automated driving applications, ensuring maximum performance of the required technologies.

The trial successfully used Ericsson's URSP network slicing feature, which dynamically selects and connects multiple slices simultaneously. Even under conditions where many users share the limited resources of the mobile network, the automated driving function always had the necessary bandwidth resources.
