Ericsson: teams up with Microsoft for connected cars

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson and Microsoft are bringing their connected vehicle expertise together, in a move intended to develop an "integrated solution," the companies said on Thursday.


The Swedish elecom gear maker is building its connected vehicle cloud product on top of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, they said.

The integrated solution is expected to allow caromakers to deploy services such as fleet management, over-the-air software updates and connected safety services, Ericsson and Microsoft said.

Ericsson boasts approximately 10% of the connected vehicle market. with over 4 million vehicles across 180 countries.
