Ericsson: wins 5G deal from Japan's SoftBank

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson has been selected by Japan's SoftBank as a primary vendor for the deployment of a 5G network in Japan, following successful joint proof-of-concept activities, the Swedish company said.


Under the agreement, Ericsson will provide SoftBank with radio access network equipment, enabling the Japanese tech giant to launch services on its newly granted 5G bands.

Ericsson will also reinforce SoftBank's existing LTE network while optimising its 5G network, the telecom gear maker said.
