Altice: fined E75m by Competition Authority

(CercleFinance.com) - The French Competition Authority (Autorité de la Concurrence) has announced a total fine of 75 million euros against Altice for the liquidation of penalty payments and non-compliance with injunctions issued in 2017.

Back in 2014, the French Competition Authority authorised Altice's takeover of SFR (then Numéricable) subject to "structural and behavioural commitments".

Three years later, in 2017, the Authority sanctioned Altice for not having implemented the commitments it said it would make. A penalty of 40 million euros was then imposed, along with several injunctions, some of which were subject to fines.

The Authority said it was issuing a decision in which it is proceeding with the liquidation of the penalty payments imposed in its 2017 decision and is sanctioning Altice for not having properly implemented the Authority's injunctions within the time limits set.
