ASML: jury awards 845 million dollars in trade secret case

(CercleFinance.com) - A US Court has awarded ASML with 845 million dollars in punitive damages after a Silicon Valley-based firm was found guilty of theft of trade secrets, the Dutch chip equipment maker said over the weekend.


The Santa Clara County Superior Court entered its final judgment in favor of ASML, finalizing a verdict that was initially returned in November 2018, the group said.

The jury found that XTAL convinced former ASML employees to breach their fiduciary duty of loyalty to the company.

However, the judgment will be uncollectable as XTAL is in bankruptcy proceedings, ASML said.
