Aegon: Barclays rates shares 'equal weight', raises target

(CercleFinance.com) - Barclays said on Wednesday that it maintained its "equal weight" rating on the shares of Aegon and lifted the target price from 4.
9 euros to 5 euros as part of a note on European insurers.

The broker believes that the sector's consistent delivery of relative positive earnings and dividend revisions will continue, particularly as fundamentals improve.

While short-term headwinds such as Brexit and lower interest rates remain, insurers continue to offer yield reliability in an uncertain world, while trading at a P/E discount relative to the market, Barclays said.

Aegon shares are currently up 1.6% at 4.5 euros, outperforming Amsterdam's AEX index, which is up just 0.7%.
