Airbus: German army orders 31 NH90 helicopters

(CercleFinance.com) - The German Bundeswehr (or Federal Defense Force) has ordered 31 NH90 NFH "Sea Tiger" helicopters for its naval operations, Airbus announced on Thursday.


These helicopters will replace the German Navy's fleet of Mk88A Sea Lynx helicopters, which were commissioned 1981. The Bundeswehr has already ordered 18 NH90 "Sea Lion" naval transport helicopters, seven of which have already been delivered.

100 NH90 naval helicopters have already been delivered to six countries and have clocked up over 70,000 flight hours in search and rescue, humanitarian and military operations.

Currently, 430 NH90 helicopters are in service worldwide, having been flown for a total of over 270,000 hours.
