Airbus: last deliveries of A380 scheduled for 2021
(CercleFinance.com) - Alongside the publication of its annual results, Airbus has announced that, due to a lack of orders, it is going to abandon the production of its four-engine "superjumbo," the A380.
The plane's last deliveries are scheduled for 2021. Company boss Tom Enders said that given the lack of demand from airlines for the A380, the company will have to reduce its production. Indeed, Airbus has said that the main aircraft's main buyer, “Emirates to reduce its A380 orderbook by 39 aircraft... Emirates will take delivery of 14 further A380s over the next two years.“ "As a consequence and given the lack of order backlog with other airlines, Airbus will cease deliveries of the A380 in 2021," Airbus said.
