Aperam: EU clears acquisition of Elg Haniel

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has cleared, under EU Merger Regulations, the acquisition of the German company ELG Haniel by Aperam S.
A.

ELG Haniel operates in the trading, processing and recycling of raw materials for the stainless steel industry, while Aperam manufactures stainless steel and other special alloys.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not give rise to any competition concerns, as: (i) customers will have the possibility to source stainless steel scrap from several alternative suppliers; and (ii) suppliers of stainless steel scrap will have the possibility to diversify their sales of stainless steel scrap.
