Toyota: production impacted by parts shortage

(CercleFinance.com) - Due to a shortage of certain parts caused by the spread of Covid in Southeast Asia, Toyota has announced that "adjustments" will be made to its production plans for September, while October plans will be "revised".

Production is expected to be reduced by 70,000 units in September (40,000 units overseas and 30,000 units in Japan) and 330,000 units in October (180,000 units overseas and 150,000 units in Japan), compared to the August production plan.

As a result, the production volume for FY ending 31 March 2022 is expected to be limited to 9 million units, compared to the 9.3 million units originally planned.

Although the outlook for November and beyond is unclear, current demand remains very strong, the company said. Toyota therefore says that the production schedule for November and beyond will remain unchanged.

Finally, despite the difficulties encountered, the manufacturer confirms its FY operating profit forecast of 2,500 billion yen (about 19.2 billion euros).
