Toyota: 2017 sales up 8% in Europe
(CercleFinance.com) - Toyota Motor Europe sold 1,001,662 Toyota and Lexus vehicles in 2017, up 8% relative to 2016.
This increase outperforms the rest of the market, with the group's market share increasing to 4.8%. Sales of hybrid electric motor models increased by 38% from 2016, totalling 406,000 in all. They now represent 41% of TME's total sales. In Western Europe, this proportion reaches 52% and even exceeds 60% in France. The successful launch of Toyota C-HR contributed to the sound performance recorded in 2017. Almost 80% of its buyers chose a hybrid electric motor (89% in France).
