Eni: takes 25% stake in Qatar LNG mega-project

(CercleFinance.com) - Eni announced Monday that it has signed an agreement to acquire a 25% stake in the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Qatar.


The North Field East (NFE) project - whose expansion phase is to be the subject of a total investment of 28.75 billion dollars - is expected to come on stream by the end of 2025.

This facility will increase Qatar's export capacity from the current 77 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to some 110 million tonnes per annum.

QatarEnergy will own the remaining 75% of the project.
