Eni: strengthens business in Egypt

(CercleFinance.com) - Eni today announced that it has signed an agreement with the Republic of Egypt, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Lukoil for the merger of the Meleiha and Meleiha Deep concessions in the Egyptian Western Desert and their extension until 2036.

This could be further extended until 2041.

Eni says that thanks to improved contractual terms and its high-resolution 3D seismic acquisition technology, "significant" resources are expected to be unlocked within the desert.

In addition, a new processing plant, connected to the Western Desert Gas Complex in Alexandria, will strengthen Eni's role as the largest gas producer in Egypt.
