Eni: new oil discovery in Egyptian desert

(CercleFinance.com) - Eni said on Tuesday that it has discovered new oil resources in the Western Desert of Egypt, in a concession that started just a year ago.


The discovery has been made on a new exploration well in the South West Meleiha concession, some 130 km north of the of Siwa Oasis, the Italian energy group said.

The well is already on stream with daily production of 5,000 barrels of oil per day, it said.

The production from the South West Meleiha concession began in July 2019 and in just one year ramped up to 12,000 barrels per day, thanks to the contribution of new discoveries, Eni noted.
