Generali: Moody's confirms 'Baa2' senior debt rating

(CercleFinance.com) - Moody's Investors Service confirmed Generali's "Baa2" senior debt rating, citing the insurer's "strong" competitive position in its main markets and "resilient" financial profile, despite the coronavirus crisis.

"The group has a very good geographic and business diversification and a low business risk profile thanks to a predominance of retail business", the agency said. "This profile, with relatively limited large corporate exposure, has played well during the pandemic," it added.

In a statement, Moody's pointed out that Generali's three largest European markets (Italy, Germany and France) contribute over 70% of the group's premiums.

Moody's affirmed all the ratings of the Italian insurance group, including its "Baa1" insurance financial strength rating (IFSR). It has a stable outlook for the ratings.
