Vodafone: buys wireless spectrum for 5G services

(CercleFinance.com) - Vodafone has acquired a spectrum for 5G mobile data services in Ofcom's latest auction for a total cost of 378 million pounds (about 433 million euros).


The British telecom giant plans to use the spectrum to increase speeds for applications, including connected vehicles and robotics, industrial automated systems, and virtual and augmented reality, it said.

The spectrum acquired has a twenty-year term and is convertible into perpetual licences thereafter.
