Vodafone: ends merger plans in Malta.

(CercleFinance.com) - Vodafone, Apax Partners and Fortino announced on Friday the termination of the merger deal between Vodafone Malta and Melita, following opposition from antitrust regulators.


In a brief statement, the companies said it has now become clear that the transaction will be unable to satisfy the Maltese Competition Authority (MCCAA)'s requirements.

The proposed merger between Vodafone Malta and Melita - aiming at creating "a fully integrated communications company in Malta" - was first announced in May this year.
