Rolls-Royce: semiconductor plants adopt MTU

(CercleFinance.com) - Last night Rolls-Royce announced that it is supplying 70 of its MTU 4000 series engines, produced by its Chinese joint venture MTU Yuchai Power, to Hefei Calsion Electric System Co, a Chinese distributor of emergency power systems.


The generators are intended to be installed at several semiconductor manufacturing sites in China to cover potential power outages and ensure consistent chip production.

The semiconductor manufacturing process is very sensitive: a power failure of a few minutes can lead to the scrapping of the entire production line.

The MTUs will enable immediate switching between the grid power and the diesel engines, helping to ensure stable and smooth operation of the production lines.
