Shell: solar electricity sales contract with Air Liquide

(CercleFinance.com) - Air Liquide has signed a ten-year contract with Shell Energy Europe Limited (SEEL) to purchase renewable energy to power industrial and medical gas production in northeast Italy.


For ten years from 2023 it will purchase an annual amount of 52 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy generated by solar power plants in Italy from Shell Energy Europe, thereby avoiding the emission of approximately 24,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The French industrial gas supplier has already signed renewable energy purchase agreements in several countries such as the US, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium, in line with its sustainability targets.

Shell shares are up 2% on this news today, while Air Liquide shares are down a fraction (-0.2%).
