Rio Tinto: overall production increases in Q1
(CercleFinance.com) - In its Q1 trading update, Rio Tinto said that iron ore production at its major Pilbara region in Western Australia rose 11% y-o-y to 79.
3 million tonnes, while iron ore shipments rose 16% over the same period to 82.5 million tonnes.
Amongst its other main raw materials, aluminium production increased by 7% and copper ore production remained stable at 145 kt.
Titanium dioxide production increased by 4% and iron ore pellets and concentrates by +5%.
Howecer, the mining company announced an 11% drop in its bauxite production.
