Rio Tinto: paid $10.8bn in taxes in 2022 (-18.8%)

(CercleFinance.com) - Rio Tinto has announced that it paid a total of $10.
8bn in taxes and royalties in 2022, compared to $13.3bn the year before, i.e. a drop of 18.8%.

The mining giant nevertheless points out that it is one of Australia's biggest taxpayers: over the past 10 years, it says it has paid a total of $74.9bn in taxes and royalties worldwide, 78.5% of which was paid in Australia.

"At Rio Tinto, we are finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs, and it is important that we do this responsibly and transparently, while contributing to the host countries and communities where we live and work," its CFO said.
