Pearson: appoints new CEO

(CercleFinance.com) - Pearson announced on Monday the forthcoming arrival of Andy Bird, a British national, who has been a member of its board of directors since May, as its new CEO.


The British group specialising in teaching and educational books said he is set to replace John Fallon, who has been its CEO since 2013, from October.

Bird, who has worked in the media sector for 35 years, has notably been president of Walt Disney International, the entertainment giant's branch outside the United States, where he notably ensured the digital transformation of the business.

Prior to his time at Disney, Andy Bird held senior positions at AOL Time Warner and Virgin Broadcasting Company, the media division of Richard Branson's group.

However, investors didn't really bat an eyelid to his appointment on Monday morning on the London Stock Exchange, where the Pearson share is not even up 0.1% in early trading.
