HSBC: launches new unit to provide ESG services

(CercleFinance.com) - HSBC said on Tuesday that is launching a new unit within its corporate and investment banking division to help clients transition their businesses in a sustainable way.


The British banking giant said the new environmental, social and governance (ESG) unit will focus on providing clients with advice, strategies and financing ideas.

The unit will work with bankers across different sectors, products and geographies to assess client needs and offer solutions towards a net zero-carbon, post-Covid world, HSBC said.

It will be led by Jonathan Drew, based in Hong Kong, working with Farnam Bidgoli in London and Julie Bennett in New York. They will be supported by several hundred colleagues, the bank said.
