Worldline: completes acquisition of 80% of Axepta Italy

(CercleFinance.com) - Worldline announces that it has completed the acquisition of 80% of Axepta Italy, a major banking acquirer in Italy, along with the implementation of a strategic alliance in merchant services in Italy, with BNL.


As the third largest economy in Europe with a cash penetration rate that remains high, Italy is a strategic and very attractive market, driven by the shift from cash to card and the adoption of electronic payments, Worldline said.

Axepta Italy is one of the major bank acquirers in the country with nearly 200 million transactions acquired per year (about 5% MSV market share) from an acceptance network of about 220,000 points of sale.
