Suez: wins waste management contract in Manchester
(CercleFinance.com) - Suez announces that it has been selected by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) to manage 1.
1 million tonnes of household waste produced by over one million households in nine districts of Greater Manchester.
This contract, which is worth more than 1 billion pounds, will come into effect on 1 June, and will last seven years, with an extension option of three years, followed by five years. It represents 4% of the total volume of waste produced in the UK.
The Group will operate 41 facilities, including four mechanical treatment and Rail Head reception facilities, 20 household waste recycling centres, 8 transfer loading stations, a thermal recovery plant and a materials recovery facility.
