Arkema: big increase in global production capacity
(CercleFinance.com) - Arkema has announced that an investment at its Serquigny site in France will enable it to increase production of the bio-based and recyclable Pebax Rnew range and the traditional Pebax range by around 25%.
The company says that the new capacity will help meet the growing demand in many demanding applications, such as sports equipment (running shoe soles, ski boots or technical textiles), consumer goods (mobile phones and flexible screens) or the medical field.
Moreover, compared to other elastomers on the market, these materials have a greenhouse gas footprint that is up to 50% lower and are fully recyclable, Arkema says.
The start-up of the new capacities is planned for mid-2023 and will enable a 25% reduction in the site's water consumption thanks to process optimisation, it added.
