EDF: to build wind farm offshore Saint-Nazaire

(CercleFinance.com) - The Council of State has validated the authorisation to build the wind farm project offshore Saint-Nazaire.

EDF Renouvelables, a subsidiary of the EDF Group, and Enbridge, a North American company, both welcome this decision. It means that all the necessary administrative authorisations for the construction and operation of the project have now been secured.

The company Eolien Maritime France (EMF), which is jointly controlled by EDF Renouvelables and Enbridgea, has been chosen as the winner of these three offshore wind projects at Courseulles-sur-Mer, Fécamp and Saint-Nazaire.

With an installed capacity of 480 MW, the future offshore wind farm in Saint-Nazaire will supply the equivalent of 20% of the electricity needs of the Loire-Atlantique region. It will significantly contribute to the French government's goal of reaching 32% of renewable energies in the country's national electricity consumption by 2030.
