Eutelsat: successfully launches Eutelsat 10B

(CercleFinance.com) - Eutelsat announced on Wednesday that it has successfully launched its Eutelsat 10B telecommunications satellite, which will provide connectivity services for the aviation and maritime sectors.


The next-generation satellite, manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), was successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Space Center in Florida.

With a greater capacity than its predecessor - Eutelsat 10A - which was also designed by Thales Alenia Space and launched in 2009 - the satellite is equipped with a fifth-generation digital processor integrated into its payload.

The satellite, which has a design lifetime of over 15 years, will provide very high-speed connectivity services for the air and maritime sectors across Europe, the Mediterranean Basin, the Middle East, Africa and over the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
