Eutelsat: successful launch of Eutelsat 172B.

(CercleFinance.com) - Eutelsat Communications has announced that its Eutelsat 172B satellite was launched successfully yesterday evening on board an Ariane 5 rocket which took off at 01:45 CET (20:45 Kourou time, 23:45 GMT), with the satellite scheduled to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2017.


This 3.5-tonne satellite has transmitted the first remote measurement data and is preparing for the deployment of solar panels scheduled for 3 June, as well as the deployment - 22 hours later - of the robotic arms that will direct its ascension to geostationary orbit.

Eutelsat 172B will increase capabilities for applications such as connectivity on board aircraft and ships, mobile network interconnection, corporate networks, video and government services.
