Eutelsat: launches a satellite for Kourou space centre.
(CercleFinance.com) - Eutelsat has announced that the satellite Eutelsat 172B has begun the last phase of preparation at Airbus Defense and Space's Toulouse site.
It will be chartered on a special flight to French Guiana on 20 March.
The launch of this 3.5-tonne satellite will take place on 25 April on board an Ariane launcher, which will take off from the European Space Centre in Kourou.
“This satellite will deliver increased capacity for fast-growing applications that include in-flight and maritime connectivity, cellular backhaul, corporate networks, video distribution and government services” Eutelsat explained.
It has a leading orbital position “providing exceptional Asia-Pacific reach over land and sea, from Alaska to Australia,” the group said.
