iliad: Xavier Niel launches a takeover bid

(CercleFinance.com) - iliad unveiled its H1 results this morning, although this publication was largely overshadowed by the announcement of a takeover bid by Xavier Niel on the group's capital.


The founder and reference shareholder of the telecom operator plans to launch an offer at a price of 182 euros per share, which represents a premium of 61% compared to yesterday's closing price.

As a result, the share price rose by 61% this morning on the Paris Stock Exchange, to perfectly match the offer price.

In a statement, Xavier Niel explained that he had decided to strengthen his control in order to accelerate the development and support the group's strategy.

At present, Niel and iliad's managers and historical shareholders hold directly and indirectly 74.9% of the capital and 83.6% of the voting rights.
