Orange: move to share network with Proximus in Belgium

(CercleFinance.com) - Orange Belgium and Proximus announce the signature of a “term sheet” with a view to entering into a mobile access network sharing agreement by the end of 2019.
It will encompass 2G, 3G and 4G technologies and will allow a quicker and more comprehensive roll-out of 5G in Belgium.

Orange Belgium expects the agreement to allow operational cost savings and cumulated investments of 300 million euros over 10 years. It will have to spend 130 million euros over the next three years to implement this agreement.

Subject to the final agreement, the shared mobile access network will be planned, built and operated by a new joint venture held in equal proportion by the two telecommunications operators, to commence in Q1 2020.
