Eramet: restarts lithium plant project in Argentina

(CercleFinance.com) - Eramet says it has begun construction of its lithium production plant in Argentina by signing an agreement with the Chinese steel group Tsingshan, the world's leading producer of stainless steel.


Eramet will control the project, with a 50.1% stake, while Tsingshan will contribute up to 375 million dollars in financing the construction of the plant, resulting in a 49.9% stake.

The lithium project was mothballed in April 2020 during the health crisis. The plant's construction, which will have an annual production of 24,000 tonnes of lithium, will start in Q1 2022, with production set to start in early 2024.
