Eramet: ditches plans to build factory in Argentina

(CercleFinance.com) - In the current international health crisis, which is leading to major uncertainties about the world economy, Eramet announces that its board of directors has decided not to start building its lithium production plant in Argentina.


The mining and metallurgical group says that the pilot plant, which has been operating for four months in real conditions in the Andes mountains, will continue its activity in order to finish collecting the results of the process.

This decision will lead to a cost of around 150 million euros. Disbursements will be around 90 million euros in 2020, essentially corresponding to investments already committed, as well as the costs of terminating contracts and mothballing them.
