Essilor: merger agreement with Luxottica extended

(CercleFinance.com) - Essilor and Luxottica have announced that the term of their merger agreement and the contribution treaty has been extended until 31 July, as signed by the French ophthalmic glass specialist and Delfin, the majority shareholder of the Italian group Luxottica.


The competition authorities in China have not yet approved the project, a condition precedent to the merger's finalisation, although both companies remain confident in getting the go-ahead in China and Turkey in the next few weeks.

As a result, the first general shareholder meeting of EssilorLuxottica will not be held on 25 July, as first planned - it will again be convened by EssilorLuxottica's Board of Directors at a later date.
