Thales: contract for line 4 of Cairo metro

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales, together with its partners Orascom Construction and Colas Rail, has signed a turnkey contract (design, supply, deployment and maintenance for two years) for line 4 of the Cairo metro.


Phase 1 of metro line 4 will link central Cairo to the Giza pyramid complex in the southwest of the capital. This line will connect the site of the pyramids and the future Great Egyptian Museum.

As part of this project, Thales will supply and install all the integrated communication and supervision systems (radio system, multi-service platform, telephone and wireless LAN networks on the track, trackside equipment for security systems, passenger information display and loudspeaker system, operations control centre) as well as ticketing solutions.

Phase 2 of the Cairo Metro Line 4 will take place at a later date, with the deployment of an additional 23.5 km of line, 19 stations and 92 trains.
