Thales: wins big contract with ESA

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), has signed a contract worth 772 million euros with the European Space Agency to supply 6 satellites as part of the second generation of the Galileo constellation.


The first satellites of this second generation will be placed in orbit by the end of 2024. Thanks to cutting-edge technologies (digitally configurable antennae, inter-satellite links, 100% electric propulsion systems), these satellites will improve the precision of the Galileo system, its robustness against interference and jamming, and the resilience of its signal, Thales said.

This second generation is based on a more robust and reliable solution, protected against cyber attacks for increased service availability, with a service life of 15 years.
