Thales: successfully launches CSO-2 satellite
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales announces that following the launch of CSO-1 in December 2018, the CSO-2 military observation satellite was successfully launched by Arianespace on board a Soyuz rocket from Europe's spaceport in French Guiana.
Carrying a very high-resolution optical instrument built by Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), the satellite was developed for the French defense procurement agency, the DGA, with Airbus the prime contractor.
For this project, Thales Alenia Space also developed key equipment, such as solar generators, very high-speed image telemetry and the encryption and decryption module for uplink and downlink services.
