Bic: share up - group rewrites executive committee

(CercleFinance.com) - Bic announced on Monday that it has strengthened its executive committee by integrating new skills, a measure designed to accelerate the implementation of its strategic plan.

The manufacturer of stationery, lighters and shavers said it had appointed Elizabeth Maul to the position of Group Insights, Innovation & Sustainability Officer, functions that include innovation and sustainable development.

She succeeds Thomas Brette, who has been appointed Group Partnerships & New Business Officer, a newly created role that focuses on developing new business models and partnerships to strengthen long-term growth opportunities.

At the same time, Gary Horsfield has been appointed Group Supply Chain Officer, in charge of the production activities of the stationery and shaver businesses and responsible for group procurement.

For the record, last year Bic launched the "Horizon" plan, a strategic program aimed at stimulating long-term sustainable growth and ensuring strong shareholder returns.

This initiative is also supposed to focus on consumer needs and sustainability requirements.

Including CEO Gonzalve Bich, the group's executive committee now has 10 senior executives.

Following these announcements, Bic shares were up over 1.5% on Monday morning in Paris, outperforming a 0.5% rise in the SBF 120 index.
