AXA: sells businesses in Central and Eastern Europe

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has approved the acquisition of AXA's operations in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia by the Austrian group UNIQA Österreich Versicherungen.


AXA's business offers life and non-life insurance, pension and investment products in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.
Uniqa is active in the insurance sector in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Commission concluded that the proposed concentration would not give rise to competition issues given the limited presence of the companies concerned, the large number of competitors and/or the strict regulatory framework applicable to the companies' activities.
