Sanofi: FDA approval for multiple myeloma drug

(CercleFinance.com) - Sanofi today announced that the US FDA has approved Sarclisa, in combination with carfilzomib and dexamethasone, for the treatment of adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma after one to three prior therapies.


Approval is based on the IKEMA Phase III study, which found that this treatment reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 45% compared to standard treatment in patients who relapsed after one to three previous treatments.

"While the median progression free survival (PFS) for Sarclisa combination therapy is not yet reached, consistent improvement in PFS is seen across patient subgroups," Sanofi said.
