TotalEnergies: decarbonation project with Holcim

(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies and Holcim today announced that they have signed an MoU to work jointly on the total decarbonisation of a Holcim cement plant that is being upgraded in Obourg, Belgium.


"Various energies and technologies will be assessed for the efficient capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) of around 1.3 million metric tons of CO2 emitted by the facility every year", the partners explained.

TotalEnergies will transport captured CO2 to an innovative synthetic fuel production facility or to a geological storage site in the North Sea, and will evaluate the development of renewable projects to power a new electrolyser.

This news seems to please investors - in initial trading, TotalEnergies shares hold the silver medal in Paris, up 3%.
