TotalEnergies: refining margin up in Q4

(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies has reported that its European refining contribution margin (refining margin) increased to 16.
7 dollars per tonne in Q4 2021, from almost exactly half that (8.8 dollars) in the previous quarter and just 4.6 dollars a year ago.

For the record, this margin is equal to the difference between sales of refined products by TotalEnergies' European refineries and purchases of crude oil with associated variable costs, divided by the quantities refined in tonnes.

In addition, the energy group says that, over the past quarter, the average price of Brent crude oil was 79.8 dollars per barrel ($/b), the average price of liquids sales was 72.6 dollars/b, the average price of gas was 11.38 dollars/MMbtu and the average price of LNG was 13.12 dollars/MMbtu.
