TotalEnergies: chemical recycling project in US
(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday TotalEnergies announced the signing of a strategic partnership in the US to build a chemical recycling unit in Texas.
Under the agreement with Plastic Energy and Freepoint Eco-Systems, the partners plan to transform plastic waste into a recycled raw material using a process patented by Plastic Energy. This raw material will then be transformed by TotalEnergies into polymers with properties identical to those of the virgin polymers used as flexible and rigid food containers. The unit, which is scheduled to be operational mid-2024, will have the capacity to process 33,000 tonnes of plastic waste, much of which is currently destined for landfill and incineration.
