Total: makes plastic bottle from carbon emissions

(CercleFinance.com) - In an innovative partnership, Lanzatech, Total and L'Oréal announce a world first with the production of the first sustainable packaging using captured and recycled carbon emissions.


During the manufacturing process, Total uses an innovative dehydration process developed with IFP Axens, to transform ethanol into ethylene, before polymerising it into polyethylene with all the technical characteristics of its fossil counterpart.

The partners are now keen to continue their collaboration in the production of sustainable plastics on a larger scale, while welcoming all those who are equally ready to commit to the use of these new sustainable plastics.
